Gun drill is a reasonable NC blade for deep hole processing. Its processing range is very wide, from glass fiber, Teflon and other plastics to deep hole processing of high toughness aluminum alloy. In the deep hole processing with strict provisions on dimensional tolerance and surface roughness, gun drill can ensure the specification precision, part precision and parallelism of the hole.
In order to achieve satisfactory results when gun drilling deep holes, it is necessary to flexibly use the characteristics of gun drilling system software (including NC blade, NC lathe, tooling fixture, accessories, product workpiece, operation module, refrigerant and management program). The technical strength of the creator is also important. According to the structure of the product workpiece, the strength of the raw materials of the product workpiece and the working conditions and quality regulations of the deep hole machining CNC lathe, excellent machining characteristics can be obtained only by selecting appropriate cutting speed, cutting speed, the main parameters of the geometry of the CNC blade, the model of the cemented carbide tool and the main parameters of the freezing liquid.
Straight slot gun drill is widely used in production and manufacturing. According to the diameter of the gun drill and the conditions of a part of the transmission system, the handle and the inner cooling hole of the blade, the gun drill can be made into two types: integrated and welded. The freezing liquid is sprayed out from the small round hole on the surface of the rear knife. The gun drill can have one or two annular cooling holes, or an independent waist hole. The standard gun drill can process holes with a diameter of 1.5mm to 76.2mm, and milling deep layers can reach 100 times the diameter.
Although the cutting speed per revolution of gun drill is low, its cutting speed per minute is larger than that of twist drill (the cutting speed per minute is equivalent to the cutting speed per revolution multiplied by the speed ratio of NC blade or product workpiece). Because the blade is made of cemented carbide tools, the cutting speed of gun drill is much higher than that of high-speed steel drill. This increases the cutting speed of the gun drill per minute. In addition, when high-pressure freezing liquid is applied, its cutting can be reasonably discharged from the machined hole, and it is not necessary to discharge it for cutting on time during the whole milling process.
